Photographer Anders Paulsson Wallevik (1874 – 1965), or A.P Wallevik as he was also called, took up the art of photography at a time when very few people had access to a camera - and the developments often required a kerosene lamp and a magnifying glass to clarify what/who appeared in the light. It's not uncommon for a solemn bunad bride with a relaxed smiley band.
And this is where Wallevik differs from the very few - because it is clear that this was a vessel with a special focus on both light and motif; several of the photos are of far better quality than those taken by today's photographers (e.g. me) with the latest technology.
Wallevik was by all accounts a prominent visual artist - and now he is getting a well-deserved exhibition in his own hometown, Vallevik in Ulvik.
