Hardangerkongen is a slow-moving shuttle boat with a large foredeck and plenty of room for all 12 passengers. In bad weather, there is seating for everyone inside the wheelhouse, and below deck.
During the winter season, parking and attendance at Eidfjord marina is "Eidfjordvegen 329"
Normally, the trip will begin by entering Simadalsfjorden and turning towards the power station there. The trip continued along land on the west side of Simadalsfjorden and then Eidfjorden. Along the way, we pass waterfalls, abandoned buildings and areas that from time to time offer wildlife.
The mountain ranges Kjeåsen and Skår will be visible from the boat, and with high cloud cover you will also be able to glimpse the Hardangerjøkulen glacier.
An alternative route would be to drive out along the land on the east side of the fjord, all the way to Hardangerbrua, and then return along the west side of the fjord. There are several cultural and historical sites en route on this route, which the captain can tell you about.
Before I can set out on this trip, I need 5 adult passengers, or 7 if there is a mix of children and adults. In the winter, I also need to get the order in a week before departure since I take on other jobs in the low season, and maybe change shifts to make this happen.
The winter tour is a round trip of two hours at a speed of 10 knots, but the focus is on the fjord landscape and the birds and animals found there. The captain knows the area well and can tell stories and facts about what you see along the way.
Many of our passengers take advantage of the photo opportunities that this tour offers.
